Chennai, 21 February (H.S.) : The Government of Tamil Nadu is actively reinforcing its commitment to social security by inviting eligible women to enroll in the Destitute Widow Pension Scheme. This vital welfare initiative provides a monthly financial assistance of 1000 to widows who find themselves without a stable source of income or support from immediate male heirs.
To qualify for this benefit, the applicant must belong to a household living below the poverty line, and the total value of their fixed assets, including residential property and land, should not exceed 100000. This scheme serves as a crucial safety net, ensuring that vulnerable women can maintain their dignity and meet basic daily requirements independently.
The application process has been streamlined for public convenience, allowing individuals to apply through the official e-Sevai Tamil Nadu portal or at any local Common Service Centre. Applicants are required to provide a valid Citizen Access Number, which can be generated on the portal if not already available.
Essential documentation for the process includes a recent photograph, Aadhaar card, smart ration card, and the husband’s death certificate. Furthermore, a widow certificate and a signed self-declaration must be submitted to verify the applicant's status.
According to Revenue Department authorities, every application undergoes a thorough verification process by the Village Administrative Officer and relevant revenue officials to ensure the benefits reach the rightful recipients. A nominal service fee ranging from 10 to 60 is charged for processing the digital application.
Once the verification is successfully completed, a digitally signed pension certificate is issued, and the monthly pension is credited directly to the beneficiary's bank account. This transparent digital tracking system allows applicants to monitor their status using a unique transaction ID.
