New Delhi, 21 February (H.S.): BJP activists protested vehemently outside Congress headquarters on Saturday, condemning the Indian Youth Congress's disruption at the AI Summit in Bharat Mandapam; Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and other leaders were briefly detained by police before release.
The demonstration decried the Youth Congress action as a deliberate bid to tarnish India's international image during the prestigious global event. Protesters, including Sachdeva, former Delhi BJP chief and MP Manoj Tiwari, vice president Rajkumar Bhatia, Vishnu Mittal, Praveen Shankar Kapoor, deputy mayor Jaybhagwan Yadav, district chief Virendra Babbar, Maya Visht, and others, attempted to breach barricades, prompting police intervention.
Authorities transported Sachdeva and workers to Tughlak Road police station, detaining them for about an hour before issuing warnings and freeing them.
Delhi BJP president Sachdeva asserted the AI Summit represented not BJP but the Indian nation, labeling the intrusion outright treason as India showcased its innovation, startup ecosystem, and digital revolution. He condemned Congress's negative politics, especially when the world acknowledges India's technological leadership, accusing the party of prioritizing political frustration over national interest and undermining achievements on global platforms.
Sachdeva targeted Congress leadership's mentality of defaming India from Parliament to streets, unable to digest the nation's strides in technology, startups, and AI. MP Manoj Tiwari deemed Friday's incident extraordinary, noting public reprisal preceded police action; he portrayed the protest as reflective of Rahul Gandhi and Congress's desperation.
