Amaravati, 2 February (HS): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday asserted that the state government will not tolerate any breach of law and order and said strict action will be taken against those who attempt to disturb public peace, regardless of their political background.

The Chief Minister’s statement followed a series of incidents over the weekend, including the arrest of senior YSRCP leader Ambati Ramababu in Guntur and reports of protests outside the residence of opposition leader Jogi Ramesh in Vijayawada.

In an official communication, Naidu emphasised that governance cannot function without the rule of law and cautioned political parties against resorting to confrontational methods. He said differences must be addressed through democratic and constitutional processes.

Referring to the Vijayawada incident, Naidu said the police had taken suo motu action after protests were held near Ramesh’s residence. An FIR (Crime No. 66/2026) has been registered by the Ibrahimpatnam police under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita based on a complaint filed by the sub-inspector of police.

Police have initiated legal proceedings against several TDP leaders from the Mylavaram Assembly constituency in connection with the case.

The Chief Minister also reacted to what he described as provocative statements from the YSRCP, urging political leaders and cadres to maintain restraint and avoid actions that could escalate tensions.

Naidu reiterated that the police have been instructed to function without bias and act firmly wherever necessary, adding that safeguarding public order and citizen safety remains the foremost priority of his government.
