19 Feb (HS): The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has
submitted a formal proposal to the government for the development of Japan City
and Singapore City. In a letter dated February 18th, the authority informed the
Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner, Government of Uttar
Pradesh, that land has been identified for these two proposed cities within the
authority's jurisdiction. The authority's CEO, RK Singh, stated that a land
acquisition plan for these two cities has been prepared.
According
to the letter, in the context of Chief Minister Yogi's official proposed visit
to Japan and Singapore, information was expected to be provided by identifying
the area for Japan City and Singapore City under the authority area.
In
this regard, the Authority has proposed Sector 5A and Sector 7 for these
projects. Under the Authority's Master Plan, Sector 7 and Sector 5A are planned
as multipurpose industrial zones. A minimum of 70 percent industrial use is set
for these areas. Residential use is limited to a maximum of 12 percent,
commercial use to a maximum of 13 percent, and institutional facilities to a
minimum of 5 percent. The letter states that these sectors could be developed
as an integrated industrial city.
A
500-acre site is proposed for the Japanese City in Sector 5A, Greater Noida.
Similarly, 500 acres of land is proposed for the Singapore City in Sector 7,
Greater Noida. Land acquisition is proposed for both projects. These sectors
are proposed to be developed under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and
Construction) mode.
