19 Feb (HS): The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has

submitted a formal proposal to the government for the development of Japan City

and Singapore City. In a letter dated February 18th, the authority informed the

Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner, Government of Uttar

Pradesh, that land has been identified for these two proposed cities within the

authority's jurisdiction. The authority's CEO, RK Singh, stated that a land

acquisition plan for these two cities has been prepared.

According

to the letter, in the context of Chief Minister Yogi's official proposed visit

to Japan and Singapore, information was expected to be provided by identifying

the area for Japan City and Singapore City under the authority area.

In

this regard, the Authority has proposed Sector 5A and Sector 7 for these

projects. Under the Authority's Master Plan, Sector 7 and Sector 5A are planned

as multipurpose industrial zones. A minimum of 70 percent industrial use is set

for these areas. Residential use is limited to a maximum of 12 percent,

commercial use to a maximum of 13 percent, and institutional facilities to a

minimum of 5 percent. The letter states that these sectors could be developed

as an integrated industrial city.

A

500-acre site is proposed for the Japanese City in Sector 5A, Greater Noida.

Similarly, 500 acres of land is proposed for the Singapore City in Sector 7,

Greater Noida. Land acquisition is proposed for both projects. These sectors
