
Dhule, 19 Feb (HS): Three people among bride’s relatives
died during wordy duel between relatives of the bride and groom during ‘Haldi’
programme of their marriage. The small debate rose to violent attacks between
the members of the two parties of the marriage. The groom’s young relatives
caused serious injuries to some relatives from the bride’s side. Three of the
injured died during treatment.
According to preliminary reports, the incident
occurred in Sakri village of Dhule district, where marriage of Gosavi community
was to be performed of. During the Haldi programme, the ritual performed before
the marriage, people from both the parties indulged in unacceptable verbal exchange,
which soon led to violence.
Those injured were rushed to a hospital. Three of
the injured from the bride’s side, died during the treatment. They were
identified as Suresh Supdugir Gosavi, Sahil Sureshgir Gosavi and Deva Ravindra
Pawar, all residents of Sakri.
On getting information, Pimpalner Police rushed to
the site and brought the situation under control. Family members of the
deceased have demanded stern action against those involved in violence. Police arranged
for additional security to prevent further violence. Further investigation has
been initiated.
