New Delhi, 19 February (H.S.): India's foreign exchange market remains closed today, Thursday, February 19, 2026, in observance of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, with transactions resuming on Friday; domestic equity markets, however, operate normally albeit without fund and share settlements.

Maharashtra Holiday Details

Maharashtra observes a public holiday today, closing government offices and banks statewide, though public transport runs as usual. This settlement holiday permits regular share buying and selling on BSE and NSE, but delivery of stocks and funds defers to the next working day due to banking closures in Mumbai, Nagpur, and Belapur.

RBI Holiday Calendar

Per the Reserve Bank of India's official 2026 holiday schedule, February 19 marks a bank holiday exclusively in Maharashtra for Shivaji Jayanti, affecting all branches for physical operations like cash deposits, withdrawals, cheque processing, and loan documentation. Digital banking and ATMs remain fully functional nationwide.
