Dhaka, 17 February (H.S.): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla attended the swearing-in ceremony of Bangladesh's new government under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's leadership on Tuesday, arriving with an Indian delegation.

Following the oath-taking, Birla met Rahman and his wife, in the presence of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.In an X post, Birla expressed delight at participating in the Dhaka event, stating, India stands ready to support Bangladesh's endeavors toward a democratic, progressive, and inclusive nation-building process.

Notably, leaders from various nations converged in Dhaka for the ceremony at interim Chief Advisor Yunus's invitation, including Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Sri Lanka and Nepal foreign ministers, and representatives from several other countries.
