
Jaipur, 14 February (H.S.): The Jaipur Polo team clinched a dramatic 10-9 victory over Vimal Aryan Achievers in the Raffles Sirmour Cup semifinal on Saturday, securing their place in the tournament final after a stunning comeback from a two-goal deficit.
Vimal Aryan Achievers launched an aggressive start, leading 2-1 at the end of the first chukker. Jaipur mounted a composed recovery in the second chukker through superior coordination, forging a 3-2 lead by halftime.
Jaipur asserted total control in the third chukker with swift ball movement, measured build-ups, and precise finishing, extending the advantage to 7-4. Lance Watson spearheaded the attack with a crucial goal, ably supported by Manuel Fernandez Llorente.
The contest swung dramatically in the fourth and fifth chukkas as Vimal Aryan Achievers mounted a fierce resurgence, capitalizing on opportunities to seize a 9-7 lead by the fifth chukker's close, intensifying the thriller.
In the decisive sixth chukker, Jaipur displayed remarkable resilience, bolstering their defense while sustaining offensive pressure. Maintaining composure under duress, they netted three unanswered goals without conceding, sealing the 10-9 triumph and final berth.
Lance Watson topped Jaipur's tally with five goals, Manuel Fernandez Llorente added four, and HH Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh contributed one. Their blend of experience, aggression, and synergy proved decisive.
