Kolkata, 14 February (H.S.) : A security alert was triggered at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata after a bomb threat was reported on an IndiGo flight scheduled to operate from Kolkata to Shillong.

According to an official statement issued by airport authorities on Saturday morning, a handwritten note indicating the presence of a bomb was discovered inside the aircraft’s lavatory. The note was noticed by a crew member, who immediately alerted security agencies and airport officials.

Upon receiving the information, emergency security protocols were swiftly activated at the airport. As a precautionary measure, the aircraft was moved away from the main terminal area to a designated isolation bay in accordance with standard safety procedures.

Bomb disposal squads and security personnel carried out a thorough inspection of the aircraft. All necessary precautionary measures were implemented to ensure the safety of passengers and crew members.

Airport authorities stated that passenger safety and operational security remain their top priority. The situation was closely monitored throughout the operation, with all concerned agencies remaining on high alert to address any potential threat.

An investigation is currently underway to verify the authenticity of the handwritten note and trace its source. Passengers were provided with necessary assistance, and security arrangements at the airport have been further strengthened.
