13 Feb (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath routinely pays
tribute to Sarojini Naidu (1879-1949), acknowledging her as a founding role in
the state's history and a supporter of women's rights. On Sarojini Naidu's birth
anniversary, Chief Minister Yogi paid tribute to her contributions to the
nation as a freedom warrior and her legacy as the 'Nightingale of India'
(Bharat Kokila). The CM lauded her
patriotism and duty as an inspiration to future generations.
Sarojini
Naidu was a prominent player in the Indian independence struggle, a close
companion of Mahatma Gandhi, and the first woman to assume the post of Governor
in India, serving as Governor of the United Provinces (now Uttar Pradesh) from
1947 until her death in 1949.
Post
penned by UP CM on X, reads as follows: “A humble tribute to Sarojini Naidu, a
leading freedom fighter and the first woman Governor of Uttar Pradesh, on her
birth anniversary. Her outstanding contributions to women's empowerment and
literature will always be remembered and a source of inspiration.”
In
another post on X, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended
birthday wishes to Cabinet Minister Swatantra Dev Singh. His post on X, stated,
“Heartiest birthday wishes to Shri Swatantra Dev Singh, a hardworking and
popular politician, my colleague in the Uttar Pradesh government and Cabinet
Minister. May you continue to progress on the path of public welfare and good
governance. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant you good health, long life, and
lasting fame.”
