Mumbai, 10 Feb (HS):
Creation of 11 new posts of Deputy Collector has been approved by the Maharashtra
Cabinet on Tuesday. The decision has been taken to expedite work in the Revenue
Department and to ensure transparency. At the same time the burden will be
reduced on the Additional Collectors, which are handling issues related to 39
subjects, including minor minerals management, land management under Nagar
Parishad and rural areas, crowd control, land records, land acquisition and
rehabilitation, gharkul scheme etc.
With the growing developmental
works undertaken by the government in rural and tribal areas, there is need for
the additional officers. The Cabinet, therefore, decided to create additional
