New Delhi, 10 February (H.S.): The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has garnered 64 bids so far for the ambitious Bhubaneswar Capital Region Ring Road project in Odisha, signaling robust industry interest in this transformative infrastructure initiative.

This 111-kilometer-long, six-lane access-controlled greenfield ring road, approved by the Union Cabinet under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, will be executed through three bidding packages. Package-1 attracted 23 bids, Package-2 received 25, and Package-3 secured 16, reflecting strong bidder participation across all segments.

NHAI officials indicated that bid allocations are anticipated by March, with the entire project slated for completion within two-and-a-half years. Spanning from Rameshwar to Tangi at an estimated cost of ₹8,307.74 crore, approximately 96 percent of land acquisition stands complete, alongside near-final approvals for forest, wildlife, and environmental clearances.

Upon fruition, the ring road will alleviate traffic congestion in the urban centers of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Khordha, enhancing regional connectivity, streamlining logistics, reducing costs, and generating substantial employment opportunities.
