
Pauri Garhwal, February 10 (HS): A one-day workshop was organised by the Pauri branch of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya at the district headquarters in Pauri in connection with the Mahashivratri festival. During the programme, emphasis was laid on Sanatan culture, its divine nature and universality, and on promoting and spreading it. An appeal was also made to avoid coming under the influence of Western culture.
The programme, held on Tuesday at the old auditorium of the District Panchayat, was inaugurated by chief guest and Pauri MLA Rajkumar Pori and special guest ADM Pauri Anil Garbyal. On the occasion, MLA Pori said that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is the standard-bearer of Sanatan culture. He said that the land has given the message of peace and universal brotherhood to the country and the world. However, he noted that at present the influence of Western culture is increasing among people, from which society must stay away. He said the role of the university is important in the preservation of Sanatan culture and that public participation in this direction is increasing.
ADM Garbyal said that “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” is the core statement of Indian culture and that the concept of one world and one family is its true strength. He said the university has been continuously running public awareness campaigns through harmony, culture and education. Chief speaker Rajyogi Dr. Himanshu Goyal said that Mahashivratri is a festival of becoming pure by surrendering one’s shortcomings to God. He said the occasion marks the descent of Supreme Soul Shiva.
On the occasion, participants were administered a pledge to stay away from intoxicants. The programme was conducted by Rajyogini Brahma Kumari Neelam. Ravindra Juyal, Keshar Singh Aswal, Jaspal Rawat, Rakesh Naudiyal, Kamla Rawat, BK Suman and others were present.
