West Bengal, 10 February (H.S.): The influence of artificial intelligence (AI) is increasing in every field, from office work to academics. However, many students taking the secondary examination in West Bengal have paid a heavy price this time due to the misuse of AI tools. Ramanuj Gangopadhyay, Chairman of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, stated that so far, 38 to 39 candidates have had their secondary examinations cancelled in the state for attempting to use AI tools through mobile phones.
Ramanuj Gangopadhyay gave this information while inspecting various examination centers in Vishnupur, Bankura, on Tuesday. He stated that incidents of using AI to take exams through mobile phones have been reported in various parts of the state. As per previously announced rules, the exams of all candidates caught have been cancelled with immediate effect.
The Board Chairman also claimed that this year, the question paper leak racket in the state has been completely curbed. According to him, strict measures have been taken to ensure transparency and security in the examination system.
The Board Chairman also categorically dismissed the misinformation surrounding the question paper for the Secondary Mathematics exam. He stated that unfounded rumors are being spread about the question paper being erroneous. Experts have yet to confirm this, so unnecessary discussion on this issue should be avoided.
On the other hand, since the Secondary exams began, reports have emerged from several districts of candidates falling ill during the exam. Several students had to be hospitalized, where arrangements were made for them to take the exam while lying on their beds.
The Secondary Board continues to maintain the sanctity of the exam and is taking a tough stand against those who violate the rules.
