BEIJING, November 2 (HS/RIA Novosti) - The visit of Russian Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko to China is of great importance for strengthening Russian-Chinese friendship, Wang Huning, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said on Monday.

A delegation from the Federation Council led by Matviyenko is currently in China on an official visit. On Monday, Matviyenko is holding a meeting with Wang in Beijing.

We believe that your current visit is of great significance for deepening the strategic substance of Russian-Chinese relations and fostering good-neighborly friendship between our two countries, Wang said during the meeting.

The Federation Council delegation also includes Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Andrey Denisov, Head of the Committee on Science, Education, and Culture Lilia Gumerova, First Deputy Chairs of Committees Ivan Abramov and Yulia Lazutkina, Deputy Chair of the Committee Andrey Chernyshev, and senator Alexander Rolik.
