New Delhi, 05 January (H.S.): Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan lauded the National Cadet Corps (NCC) for its commendable contribution during Operation Sindoor, stating that the organization’s efforts have set a benchmark for youth participation in national service. Speaking at the NCC Republic Day Camp 2026 held in the Delhi Cantonment area on Monday, the Vice President highlighted the critical role played by NCC cadets in supporting civil defense duties during the operation.

The NCC Republic Day Camp, which commenced on January 05 and will conclude on January 28 with the Prime Minister’s Rally, has brought together 2,406 cadets from across India, including 898 girls. The Vice President noted that approximately 72,000 NCC cadets volunteered for civil defense duties during Operation Sindoor, reflecting their dedication, courage, and readiness to serve the nation in times of crisis.

Operation Sindoor, conducted by the Indian Armed Forces on May 07, 2025, was a response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, in which 26 innocent civilians lost their lives. In retaliation, the operation successfully neutralized at least 100 terrorists, showcasing India’s unwavering resolve on the global stage.

Extending New Year greetings to the cadets, the Vice President emphasized that NCC, entering its 78th year, remains the world’s largest uniformed youth organization, committed to nurturing disciplined, responsible, and patriotic citizens.

Recalling NCC’s motto—‘Unity and Discipline’—he stated that the organization continues to shape confident and value-driven youth who are the foundation for a developed India@2047.

Highlighting the significance of Republic Day, the Vice President underscored that the NCC Republic Day Camp embodies constitutional values such as justice, freedom, equality, and fraternity. Cadets from diverse states and union territories live, train, and bond together, strengthening the spirit of national unity.He also praised NCC’s involvement in adventurous activities, international youth exchange programs, environmental campaigns, and disaster relief efforts, especially their crucial role during the floods in Wayanad, Kerala.

Commending recent modernization initiatives—such as the introduction of cyber and drone training, and the establishment of a Remote Pilot Training Academy—the Vice President affirmed that these measures will equip youth to face future technological and security challenges.

The Vice President further acknowledged the dedication of NCC officers, trainers, and staff. Upon arrival at the camp, he inspected the Guard of Honour presented by NCC cadets, visited the Hall of Fame, viewed various exhibition stalls, and attended a cultural program performed by the cadets.

The event was attended by Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, Director General of NCC, senior officers, trainers, and cadets from different parts of the country.
