Hundreds of local men and women blocked the Tinsukia–Makum road on Friday night, placing a dead body on the carriageway, to protest the murder of a man identified as Ratneswar Bora.

According to locals, Ratneswar Bora was allegedly murdered on the very first day of the New Year by one Bichu Malaha. The incident has triggered widespread anger in the area, prompting residents to take to the streets demanding immediate justice.

Protesters blocked vehicular movement for several hours, demanding the arrest of the accused, Bichu Malaha. They raised slogans against the administration and alleged delay in police action.

The situation remained tense in the area as police reached the spot and tried to pacify the agitating crowd. Further details are awaited.-----------
