(HS): The schedule for the special meeting to elect Nagpur’s Mayor, Deputy

Mayor and nomination of 16 Standing Committee members has been announced. The

meeting of scheduled for February 6 at Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Hall, Reshimbag,

Nagpur.

The nomination

forms will be accepted between 11 am and 3 pm on February 2 (3 days in advance),

at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Hall of Nagpur Municipal Corporation.

The scrutiny of

the nomination forms will be done at 11 am on February 6 at Suresh Bhat Hall

after the special meeting begins. After scrutiny, nominations can be withdrawn

in writing within 15 minutes of the announcement of the final list of

candidates in the fray.

The list of

candidates after withdrawal of nominations will be announced by the presiding

officer. Voting, if required, will begin. The presiding officer will announce

the results immediately after the voting and counting.

The mayor and

Deputy Mayor elected will then nominate members to the Standing Committee in

proportion of the elected corporator from different parties.

The term of

Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be of two-and-a-half years from the day of

assuming charge.
