New Delhi, 27 January (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union (EU) on Tuesday as a new blueprint for shared prosperity, asserting that this partnership will provide stability to the international order in a tumultuous world.

Prime Minister Modi held bilateral and delegation-level talks on Tuesday at Hyderabad House here with leaders of the European Union. Following discussions with European Council President Antonio Luis Santos da Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, a joint press statement was issued.

In it, the Prime Minister stated that the largest Free Trade Agreement in India's history to date has been concluded today. This agreement with 27 European countries has been forged precisely on this date, namely the 27th.The Prime Minister remarked that this will boost investments, foster innovation partnerships, and ensure supply chain stability.

Linking the India-EU partnership to global welfare, he affirmed that it will impart stability to the international system in today's chaotic world.He noted that India-EU relations have witnessed remarkable progress over recent years.

The India-EU partnership serves the good of the world. Respect for multilateralism and the international order remains our shared priority. We concur that reforming global institutions is imperative to address contemporary challenges.
