New Delhi, 27 January (H.S.): Light to moderate rain occurred on Tuesday across various parts of north and west India, including Delhi-NCR, ushering in a renewed spell of cold weather. While some areas in the national capital region witnessed cleaner air, others remain gripped by toxic haze.

According to the Central Pollution Control Bureau (CPCB), by 1 PM today in the capital, Wazirpur recorded an AQI of 400, Anand Vihar 381, Siri Fort 341, Burari Crossing 353, Chandni Chowk 348, ITO 337, and JNU 333—all categorized as 'very poor'. Additionally, IIT Delhi registered 285, Najafgarh 260, and IGI Airport 203, falling in the 'poor' category.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that winds in these regions persist at speeds of 40-50 kilometers per hour today, with potential to reach 60 km/h. Due to western disturbances, light to moderate rain, snowfall in higher reaches, and isolated hailstorms are anticipated on January 28 across these areas.

In Delhi-NCR, overcast skies prevailed from this morning, accompanied by winds of 30-40 kilometers per hour. The maximum temperature here registered between 18-20 degrees Celsius, and the minimum between 8-10 degrees Celsius.

Furthermore, on January 28, prospects include light to moderate morning fog, with maximum temperatures of 17-19 degrees Celsius and minimums of 11-13 degrees Celsius.

The weather department forecasts cold wave conditions in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh from January 28-31, while dense morning and evening fog is expected in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan until January 28-30, and in Uttarakhand and Bihar until January 28-31.
