Bhubaneswar, 26 January (H.S.): Bhubaneswar marked the state-level Republic Day celebrations on Monday with Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati unfurling the National Flag at Gandhi Marg.
Following the ceremonial flag hoisting, a grand parade was held along Gandhi Marg, witnessing enthusiastic public participation. The Governor took the salute from the marching contingents as they passed the saluting base, a central highlight of the ceremony. The parade reflected discipline, preparedness and coordinated participation by various forces and institutions.
Elaborate arrangements were made at Lower PMG for the state-level celebrations. A total of 54 contingents took part in the parade, including uniformed personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF) and Home Guards Civil Defence.
Students from several government and private schools and colleges across the state also participated, lending colour, energy and a strong youth presence to the event.
As part of the programme, tableaux presented by 12 government departments showcased key developmental themes and flagship initiatives of the state. Five folk dance and folk art troupes from different districts performed during the celebrations, highlighting Odisha’s rich cultural heritage.
The event also featured performances by a daredevil team demonstrating skill-based acts, while young children captivated spectators with skating displays. The coordinated performances received warm appreciation from the large gathering along the parade route.
