Lucknow,
26 Jan (HS): On Republic Day, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president and former Uttar
Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati greeted people and reaffirmed her desire for
Kanshi Ram, the party's founder, to be awarded the Bharat Ratna. In a post on X, she said, I extend
heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all countrymen, Indians living around
the world, and their families on this 77th Republic Day. She said that
while the day was intended to celebrate the Constitution, its true value lay in
determining if governments were living according to its spirit.
“Aside
from expressing pride in our good Constitution, it is very important for
honestly analyzing the performance of administrations. We should analyze if the
grandiose claims and enticing promises of the central and state administrations
are just false, or whether the country has achieved the intended political,
social, and economic democratic development in line with the welfare-oriented
objective of the Constitution, she wrote in her post on X.
The
BSP chief questioned if there had been any much-needed change in people's
living circumstances. She claimed that only such an honest examination might
lead to liberation from the country's serious issues.
Mayawati
also greeted individuals who received Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Padma
Shri, and the highest gallantry honors on Republic Day, and conveyed her best
wishes to their families. Reiterating a long-standing demand, she stated that
Kanshi Ram, who spent his whole life to empowering lakhs of underprivileged,
exploited, and neglected people of the 'Bahujan Samaj' and allowing them to
live a life of self-respect and dignity, should be awarded the Bharat Ratna
without delay. She noted that the BSP has continuously raised the issue of
Kanshi Ram receiving the country's highest civilian honor.
