
Guwahati, 23 January (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday announced a series of key programmes, investments and welfare initiatives during a Facebook Live interaction. The Chief Minister said Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Dibrugarh on January 30 to lay the foundation stone of the second complex of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
Dr Sarma further stated that the state government will provide fresh appointments to 2,000 youths on either February 11 or 12 as part of its ongoing recruitment drive. On January 24, the Chief Minister will be in Pub Baksa to participate in the cheque distribution programme under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Scheme.
On January 25, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the Eti Koli Duti Paat scheme at Doomdooma, under which permanent and temporary tea garden workers will be provided financial assistance of ₹5,000 each by the state government. He will also hoist the national flag in Dibrugarh for the second time on Republic Day, January 26.
The Chief Minister announced that the Mukhyamantrir Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan will be inaugurated in Guwahati on February 7. Under the scheme, financial assistance of ₹2 lakh each will be provided to 75,000 youths to promote self-employment.
Dr Sarma also informed that Assam has received investment commitments worth ₹90,000 crore from various international entrepreneurs. Following discussions with leading global companies at the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland, several firms have expressed interest in investing in the state, he said.
The announcements were made by the Chief Minister during a Facebook Live address, outlining the government’s roadmap for employment generation, welfare schemes and investment-driven growth in Assam.
