Guwahati /Davos (Switzerland), 21 January (HS): Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, currently in Davos, Switzerland, held discussions with the Varaha Group on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, focusing on climate action and sustainable agriculture.

The CMO officials informed that the Chief Minister met Varaha Group Chief Executive Officer Ikaras Janzen and discussed the company’s work in removing carbon dioxide through large-scale afforestation and nature-based solutions. Varaha Group is actively engaged in projects aimed at carbon sequestration and climate resilience.

During the meeting, Dr Sarma invited the Varaha Group to explore opportunities in Assam, highlighting the potential benefits such initiatives could bring to the state’s farming community. He emphasised that collaboration in sustainable and climate-friendly practices could enhance farmers’ livelihoods while supporting environmental conservation in Assam.----------
