South 24 Paragnas, 20 January (H.S.): The situation has become tense once again in the Bhangar area of South 24 Parganas district. A Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker was targeted in a bomb attack. Although the TMC worker, Kamal Purkait, narrowly escaped the attack, his left hand was partially burned by the bomb blast. The incident has caused considerable tension in the area. The Trinamool Congress has blamed the ISF (Indian Secular Front) for the attack.
The incident occurred on Monday night in the Paglahat area of Bhangar. According to local sources, Kamal Purkait was returning home after work when miscreants spotted him and threw two bombs at him in quick succession. Although he managed to save his life, his left hand was burned by the bomb blast.
Immediately after the incident, panic spread in the area. Local residents rushed the injured TMC worker to a nearby hospital. On information, the police from North Kashipur police station of Bhangar division arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. The police have launched an investigation into the matter and are conducting raids to apprehend the attackers.
The Trinamool Congress alleged that this attack was carried out due to the continuous tension and clashes between the TMC and the ISF in the Bhangar area in recent days. However, the local leadership of the ISF has completely denied these allegations. The ISF claimed that this is a conspiracy to spread unrest in the area and that anti-social elements supported by the Trinamool are behind it.
Currently, the police are investigating the allegations made by both sides. Following the incident, security has been tightened in the area, and additional police forces have been deployed to prevent any further untoward incidents.
