New Delhi, 15 January (H.S.): An Air India Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner en route to Singapore executed a precautionary return to Indira Gandhi International Airport late Wednesday night after its auxiliary power unit triggered a fire warning alarm mere moments post-takeoff, ensuring the safe landing of flight AI2380 carrying 190 passengers.

All passengers received comprehensive assistance at Delhi before being rebooked on an alternate aircraft that ferried them seamlessly to their destination, averting potential peril through swift aviation protocols.

Sources confirmed Thursday that the auxiliary power unit—a critical backup system powering onboard electronics—emitted the fire alert, compelling the operating crew to abort the international leg and circle briefly for safe descent.

Flightradar24 data corroborates the aircraft remained airborne approximately one hour before touching down around 1:00 AM on January 14, underscoring the gravity of real-time threat detection amid high-altitude operations.

Air India spokesperson elaborated that the crew identified a potential technical anomaly post-departure, opting prudently for immediate return: On January 14, the operating crew of flight AI2380 from New Delhi to Singapore decided to return to Delhi as a precaution due to a suspected technical issue shortly after takeoff.

The aircraft landed safely in New Delhi. Our teams in Delhi provided all necessary assistance to passengers, who were rebooked on an alternative flight to Singapore. The spokesperson expressed sincere regret for inconveniences wrought by this unforeseen exigency.
