
Jalgaon, 14 Jan (HS): A patrolling squad in Jalgaon
seized Rs 29 lakh cash, 3 kg silver and 80 gm gold ornaments from a car. The vehicle
was checked at Mamurabad check post in Jalgaon and the material was seized as the
documents relating to cash and ornaments were not produced.
The police are on high alert given the municipal
elections on January 15. Patrolling duty are checking vehicles on the six major
roads entering Jalgaon.
With the car bearing number plate MP 09, CU 2218 was
seized. Those travelling in the car have been identified as Rakesh Damodardas
Shrof (48), Jas Rakesh Shroff (21), both residents of Pandumal Chowk, Barhanpur
and driver Navin Kishorilal Bhawsar (35), a resident of Shikarpur, Barhanpur. They
had carried the silver and gold ornaments to verify their purity and cash to
buy new ornaments.
Police have taken them in custody and are
investigating further.
