Thiruvananthapuram, 11 Jan (H.S.):The chief priest of Sabarimala, Kandararu Rajeevaru, who is currently in judicial remand in connection with the alleged Sabarimala gold heist case, was discharged from hospital on Sunday afternoon and shifted back to jail after his health condition improved.

Rajeevaru had been admitted to hospital on Saturday after he complained of physical discomfort while lodged at the Thiruvananthapuram Special Sub Jail. Prison authorities said he experienced uneasiness and related health issues on Saturday morning, following which he was immediately taken to the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital for medical evaluation. As doctors observed possible cardiac-related concerns during preliminary examinations, he was later shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital for further tests and specialised care.

Hospital sources said Rajeevaru was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as a precautionary measure and kept under close observation. Medical authorities clarified that the ICU admission was primarily for monitoring purposes and not due to any critical deterioration in his condition. After detailed examinations and continuous observation, his health was reported to have stabilised. He was subsequently discharged from the Medical College Hospital around 3 pm on Sunday and handed over to prison authorities, who escorted him back to jail.

Rajeevaru was arrested late on Friday night in connection with the Sabarimala gold heist case following an intensive interrogation by the Crime Branch. The questioning was led by Crime Branch ADGP H. Venkatesh. After the arrest, he was produced before the Kollam Vigilance Court, where Vigilance Judge C.S. Mohith remanded him to judicial custody. Owing to the late hour, he was reportedly produced at the judge’s residence on Friday evening.

Following the remand, Rajeevaru was transferred to the Thiruvananthapuram Special Sub Jail, where he began experiencing health complications the next morning. Prison officials acted swiftly to ensure medical attention, first shifting him to the General Hospital and later to the Medical College Hospital based on medical advice.

The Sabarimala gold heist case has generated widespread attention in Kerala, given the religious sensitivity of the shrine and the high-profile nature of the accused. Investigating agencies have maintained that the probe is progressing strictly in accordance with the law, while medical authorities have reiterated that Rajeevaru is currently stable and fit to remain in judicial custody.
