Mumbai, 02 Sep (HS): The OBC reservation will not be
affected by accepting the demands of the Maratha Community, said Chief Minister
Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday. By implementing the Hyderabad Gazette, the Maratha
community from Marathwada will benefit, he added.
Fadnavis was speaking to the media after Manoj Jarange’s
hunger strike was withdrawn on Tuesday evening. He said legal formalities will
have to be followed while implementing the Hyderabad Gazette, which says the
reservation cannot be granted to a community; it has to be demanded by the individuals
who want the reservation. The demand of issuing Kunbi caste certificate can be
implemented after verifying the inheritance-related documents.
The Maratha community criticised us, but we have no
grudge against them. We are working for the welfare of the people, he said.
