Bijapur,August 18(HS): A District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan lost his life and three others were injured on Monday morning after an improvised explosive device (IED), planted by Maoist insurgents, went off in Bijapur district’s Bhopalpatnam region of Chhattisgarh.
According to police officials, the DRG team had been on an anti-Naxal search operation since Sunday. During the patrol in the dense forests near Ulloor village, a pressure-triggered IED was detonated, killing constable Dinesh Nag, a native of Ward No. 15 in Bijapur town.
Three troopers — Bharat Dhiwar, Paiku Inla, and Mundaru Ram Kawasi — sustained injuries in the blast. They were rushed to a nearby hospital and are reported to be out of danger, confirmed Bastar Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P.
Security forces have since intensified the search operation in and around the blast site. The incident underscores the persistent threat of Maoist violence across the Bastar division, despite ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.
