New Delhi, August 1(HS): The Supreme Court has notified the central government and states about a petition seeking a ban on online betting, emphasizing its public interest. Notices have also been sent to Google India and Apple India for their responses. The court will review the request for interim relief to suspend betting apps in the next hearing.

Filed by Dr. K.A Paul, the petition likens online betting apps to gambling, claiming they have ruined millions of young lives, with 1,023 reported suicides in Telangana due to addiction. It also highlights endorsements from twenty-five Bollywood and Tollywood actors, fueling the issue.
