Delhi, 1 August (H.S.): President Droupadi Murmu, attended the 45th convocation ceremony of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad on Friday. She highlighted the institute's nearly 100-year legacy in mining and geology and its evolution into a leading center for diverse higher education and research. The President emphasized the institute’s significant role in technological advancement and the alignment of education with societal needs. She encouraged IIT-ISM to cultivate engineers and researchers who are not only skilled but also compassionate and socially aware. Addressing global challenges such as climate change and digital disruption, she stressed the institute's importance in developing sustainable solutions.

The President noted India's vast human resources and the growing accessibility of technical education as pivotal to transforming India into a technological superpower. She advocated for a more practical and innovative education system, emphasizing industry partnerships. Additionally, she called for fostering a patent culture, promoting R&D, and supporting start-ups for global competitiveness.

She urged students to leverage their knowledge for the public good and to contribute to a just and equitable India, advocating for harmonious development that respects nature.
