New Delhi, August 1 (H.S.): On Friday, P. Wilson of the DMK party submitted a letter to Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, calling for the release of two arrested Catholic nuns in Chhattisgarh. He also met with Union Minister Amit Shah in Parliament, emphasizing the need for urgent action to restore public confidence and constitutional balance.
In his letter, Wilson urged the Chhattisgarh government to facilitate the immediate release of Sister Preeti Mary and Sister Vandana Francis. He advocated for amendments to the Indian Constitution to grant constitutional status to the National Minority Commission, declaring atrocities against minorities as punishable offenses, and ensuring measures to protect religious minorities. He also called for filling vacancies in the National Minority Commission and received government assurances for further action.
