New Delhi, July 6 (HS): Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 143 runs in the fourth youth One Day match against England Under-19, setting a new record for the fastest century in just 52 balls. This surpassed the previous record of 53 balls held by Kamran Ghulam. His innings included 13 fours and 10 sixes. Following this achievement, Suryavanshi expressed his ambition to reach 200 runs in the next match. The Indian Under-19 batsman aims for a double century in future games.
In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on social media on Sunday, Vaibhav said, I did not know that I set a record after making 100 runs; our team manager Ankit Sir told me.
Indian Test captain Shubman Gill has been a significant inspiration for Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Vaibhav was present when Gill scored a double century in the Edgbaston Test against England. Vaibhav said, I got a lot of inspiration from him; I watched the game; even after making 100 and 200, he didn’t stop and led the team forward.
Regarding his dismissal at 143 runs, Vaibhav said, I could have batted longer as I had plenty of time; 20 overs were remaining. I could have extended my innings. There was one shot I could not play with 100 percent commitment, which is why I got out.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi spoke about his next goal, saying, I will try to score 200 in the next match and play the entire 50 overs. The more runs I score, the better it will be for the team, so I will aim to play the full match in the next game; that will be my focus.
Outstanding performance in the series Vaibhav Suryavanshi is in excellent form in the ongoing five-match youth ODI series against England. Before the fourth ODI, the young batsman had scored 48, 45, and 86 runs. With his innings of 143 runs in the fourth match, he has now scored a total of 322 runs in the series so far. Talking about this series, the Indian team has taken an unassailable lead of 3-1 with their victory in the fourth match.
