London, July 5(HS): The England women's cricket team faces a setback as captain Nat Sciver-Brunt withdraws from the remaining Vitality T20 International matches against India due to a left groin injury. The ECB confirmed this, noting that she incurred the injury during the second T20 in Bristol, where vice-captain Sophia Dunkley temporarily took over, and England lost by 24 runs.
Maia Bouchier has been called up to replace Sciver-Brunt, while experienced batswoman Tammy Beaumont will captain the team for the first time. England won the third match by five runs but trails 2-1 in the series. The fourth and fifth T20s are scheduled for July 9 and 12 in Manchester and Birmingham. The ECB anticipates Sciver-Brunt being available for the subsequent ODI series.
