New Delhi, July 22 (H.S.): Prasar Bharati Board Chairman Navneet Sehgal asserts that the OTT channel Waves will revolutionize information dissemination and entertainment. Speaking at a seminar in memory of late Baleshwar Agrawal, he highlighted that Waves aims to provide timely news and healthy entertainment in Indian languages globally. The platform is completely free and offers content in 14 Indian languages, showcasing popular serials like Hum Log and Buniyaad. Sehgal noted that they are leveraging new technologies to preserve cultural heritage for future generations. Additionally, there are efforts to create a space for Indian communities worldwide to access valuable information.
On this occasion, Senior Journalist and Chairman of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Ram Bahadur Rai highlighted the importance of establishing a global database for Indian language publications and fostering direct connections. He commended PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their dedication to preserving Indian heritage. The International Cooperation Council event showcased extensive research on journalism in Indian languages, featuring contributions from various scholars. Jawahar Karnawat presented a comprehensive record of Hindi journalism spanning from 1898 to today across 27 countries.
During this event,MP Atul Garg emphasized the need for accurate information about India for the global Indian community.
