Jalpaiguri, 13 June (H.S.): The inauguration ceremony for the 13115/13116 Sealdah-Jalpaiguri Road Humsafar Express was cancelled due to the tragic Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025, which killed 241-265 people, with only one survivor. Despite the cancellation of the ceremonial event, the train's commercial operations will proceed as scheduled. The train will depart from Jalpaiguri Road to Sealdah on time, with its first run set for June 20, 2025, from Sealdah, and from Jalpaiguri Road the following day.
According to sources from the Alipurduar Railway Division, the train has already seen a positive response, with 350 passengers booked for the 01316 Jalpaiguri Road to Sealdah Humsafar Express as of 8:30 PM on June 12, 2025. The weekly special train will feature 16 third AC coaches and two sleeper class coaches, providing enhanced connectivity for residents of Jalpaiguri district, including areas like Mekhliganj, Haldibari, and Changrabandha, to Kolkata. The train will cover a distance of 587 km in approximately 12 hours and 20 minutes, passing through key stations such as Ranaghat, Krishnanagar City, Berhampore Court, Azimganj, Jangipur Road, Malda Town, and New Jalpaiguri.
