Maldah, 12 June (H.S.)

There is a possibility of an accident as soil beneath a concrete road sinking due to absence of railing in a pond in Sripur Dargapada area of Ratua (2) block of Maldah district. Villagers are forced to travel risking their lives every day. People are afraid to travel on that road by car. Many people get down from their vehicles and cross that part of the road on foot.

Locals said that the road is now almost hanging. Any accident may happen anytime. It is learnt that more than a hundred families of the village use the concrete road built seven years ago. Bikes, bicycles, totos and tractors run on the road. People are worried about what will happen if the only road of the village breaks down. According to local resident Ariful Mian, for the safety of the road, railings will have to be installed on the banks of the pond and soil will have to be filled. Otherwise the problem will increase.

Teacher Raqib Khan claimed that the administration as well as the MLA of the area have been repeatedly informed about this problem. But no one is taking the initiative to get the railing constructed.

In this context, Maltipur MLA Abdur Rahim Bakshi said, The matter has come to my notice. Arrangements will be made to get the railing constructed from the MLA fund.
