Odisha CM Mohan Majhi Reflects on One Year in Office: People’s Service is My Sole Mission

Bhubaneswar, 12 June (H.S.): Marking the first anniversary of the BJP-led government in Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing gratitude to Lord Jagannath and the people of the state for their support and trust.

Exactly a year ago, with the blessings of Mahaprabhu Jagannath and the trust of the people, we formed our government, wrote CM Majhi. Under the visionary leadership of our esteemed Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, I had the honour of taking oath as the Chief Minister of our great land, Odisha.

He reflected on his journey from a college student with a desire for public service to roles as a swayamsevak , teacher, sarpanch, MLA, and now Chief Minister. Solving people’s issues has always been my constant struggle and continues to be my mission, he said.

Highlighting the government’s achievements within the first year, CM Majhi emphasized that the greatest success lies in giving hope to the common citizen—that even a child from a humble background can one day become Chief Minister. That belief is our biggest accomplishment, he stated.

He reiterated his commitment to grassroots governance. “Our government is a people’s government. That is why I make it a point to meet the people directly, understand their problems at the grassroots level, and work toward real solutions.”

Majhi recalled that the new government, in its very first cabinet meeting, took decisions to fulfill four key promises. These included opening all four gates of the revered Shree Jagannath Temple and establishing a ₹500 crore corpus fund for temple development.

The CM also outlined landmark welfare initiatives such as the launch of the Subhadra Yojana, which has empowered over 1 crore women in just one year. For farmers, an additional ₹800 in support has been provided per quintal of paddy, taking the MSP to ₹3,100.

“We have already fulfilled 11 out of 21 major promises within the first year of our administration,” he added.

Concluding his post, Chief Minister Majhi expressed confidence in Odisha's future: “With your blessings and support, Odisha is now progressing steadily toward real and inclusive development.”
