Delhi, 1 June (H.S.): The Department of Land Resources (DoLR), under the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, will initiate the second phase of capacity-building for the NAKSHA programme on 2nd June 2025. This follows the completion of the first phase in May 2025, which trained 160 master trainers from various states and Union Territories. The virtual inauguration will be led by Manoj Joshi, Secretary of DoLR, at 10:00 A.M. This phase will include hands-on training for 304 ULB-level and district officers from 157 Urban Local Bodies over a week.
Training will occur at five Centres of Excellence, focusing on integrating modern geospatial technologies into urban property surveys. Proposed locations are LBSNAA in Mussoorie, YASHADA in Pune, Northeast Region CoE in Guwahati, MGSIPA in Chandigarh, and ATI in Mysuru. The training modules encompass the programme framework, GNSS and ETS-based surveying, Web-GIS applications, land parcel mapping, and the legal-administrative aspects of land surveys. With an estimated urban population of over 600 million by 2031, the NAKSHA programme aims to establish accurate, accessible land records across 157 ULBs within 27 States and 3 Union Territories, emphasizing a technology-driven approach to land surveying.
