New Delhi, May 7 (HS): The Supreme Court has dealt a major blow to Rajasthan BJP MLA Kanwar Lal Meena. A bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath has ordered Kanwar Lal Meena to surrender within two weeks in connection with the case of threatening an SDM with a revolver in 2005. This order from the Supreme Court could force Kanwar Lal Meena to resign from his position as an MLA.

Earlier, on May 5, the Supreme Court had stayed the Rajasthan High Court's order sentencing Kanwar Lal Meena to three years in prison. Kanwar Lal Meena was sentenced to three years for threatening the SDM with a revolver. He appealed to the Supreme Court against the order.

In fact, Kanwar Lal Meena was accused of threatening the then SDM of Aklera, Ram Niwas Mehta, on February 3, 2005, regarding the re-election of the deputy sarpanch. At that time, Meena arrived on the scene with seven of his associates and threatened the SDM with a revolver at his head, also threatening to kill him. Meena is also accused of breaking and burning the cassette of the video recording made at the scene.
