New Delhi, May 7 (HS): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that the Indian Armed Forces executed 'Operation Sindoor' last night, targeting and destroying terrorist training camps in Pakistan as a decisive response to cross-border attacks. The operation was planned with precision to specifically demoralize terrorists while ensuring that civilian infrastructure remained untouched.

Following the operation, Singh participated in the 66th BRO Day ceremony in New Delhi, where he virtually inaugurated 50 major projects totaling ₹1,879 crores, which include 17 roads, 30 bridges, and various other infrastructural works across 6 states and 2 union territories. He emphasized that these developments, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Sikkim, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, and Rajasthan, serve not only as physical connectors but also strengthen communal ties.

The Defence Minister praised the Indian Army for demonstrating bravery and vigilance, achieving operational targets while maintaining humanitarian sensitivity. Singh cited the principle of “Jin mohi maara, tin mohi maare, ensuring that actions targeted the perpetrators of violence against innocents. He noted the BRO's budget has nearly doubled in the past five years, enabling significant infrastructure advancements along borders, particularly under challenging conditions like those in Maoist-affected Chhattisgarh.

The establishment of world-class infrastructures, such as the Sela Tunnel, reflects the government's commitment to enhancing connectivity in crucial areas.
