India's Changing Stance on Terrorism
By Prahlad Joshi, Union Minister
Earlier, when there were terrorist attacks on Indian soil, what would we do? We would light candles. We would take to the streets holding photos of martyrs. We would write emotional poetry and weep. We would say, This shouldn’t happen again. We would believe it wouldn’t happen again. Then? It would happen again. We would again light candles, cry, and say, “Not again.”
But today’s India has changed. Today, if there’s a terrorist attack, we respond with missiles. We carry out counterstrikes. We destroy hideouts and training camps. We strike with pinpoint accuracy using the latest drones.
We call this Operation Sindhoor. More than a hundred terrorists have been killed in the past 45 days.
This is not accidental. It is the result of the changed leadership at the centre.
It is the outcome of the strong leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
He brought in a new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
He facilitated coordination among all three branches of the armed forces.
He ensured that soldiers were equipped with modern technology.
He arranged state-of-the-art drones and modern weapon systems.
He created an effective system of retaliation.
After the Pulwama attack, Modi didn’t just express sorrow.
He cancelled his visit to Saudi Arabia.
He called an emergency meeting of security officials.
He gave full freedom to the army to act.
He stated clearly: “India will not tolerate terrorism anymore.”
This was not an emotional outburst, but a reflection of a determined policy.
He took both military and diplomatic steps.
He revoked the Indus Water Treaty that had long favoured Pakistan.
He banned Pakistani artists and cultural programs.
He reduced the strength of Pakistan’s High Commission staff.
He paused trade and withdrew from SAARC initiatives.
He exposed Pakistan’s role in terrorism on global platforms.
Even in retaliation, humanity was maintained.
The Indian Army struck only terrorist targets.
Civilians were spared.
No innocent lives were taken.
Even when Pakistani terrorists were killed, their bodies were given military honours during burial.
The whole world witnessed this gesture.
The truth of India’s ethical stance and Pakistan’s duplicity was laid bare.
That is why the world stood with India.
Countries like the USA, France, and Russia supported India.
UN members backed India’s right to self-defence.
It was not just a military victory—but also a diplomatic triumph.
Operation Sindhoor is a symbol.
It symbolizes India’s new counter-terrorism doctrine.
It shows how military strategy, advanced technology, and diplomatic strength can be combined.
Today, India doesn’t cry in sorrow—it strikes in strength.
From lighting candles to lighting up terrorist hideouts—this is the story of new India.
