Jammu, 2 May (H.S.): Son of the soil, Army Jawan martyr, Harish Singh a resident of village Jandore, Barwal who sacrificed his life while performing his duty in Kargil district of Ladakh region where he was hit by a snow avalanche was cremated with full Army honor at his native village Jandore near here, today.

Hundreds of mourners including his family members, relatives and local people bid a tearful adieu to the soldier. On the occasion, Army officers of 8 Dogra Regiment and MLA Jasrota, Rajiv Jasrotia, attended wreath laying ceremony and paid floral tribute to martyr.

The family members of martyr Harish Singh said that he was very active and dedicated towards his service. He was posted at high altitude and snow bound area of Kargil in Ladakh region. He was an inspiring figure in the village and he always motivated the youth towards nation building.

His elder brother lit the fire and gave a tearful adieu to him while recalling the memories of his brother. The twin villages of Jandore and Barwal were in pal of gloom and everyone was in sorrow and grief.
