Mumbai,
14 May (HS): Major Anil Ars of Maratha Light Infarntry, and scientist Milind
Atre from IIT, Mumbai have been selected for the ‘Swatantyaveer Savarkar
Shourya’ and ‘Swatantryaveer Savarkar Vigyan’ awards respectively. The awards the
distinguished services in Bravery and Science are given by the Swatantryaveer
Savarkar National Memorial. The awards for the year 2025 were announced in
Mumbai on Wednesday.
The
Swatantryaveer Savarkar Award for Bravery consists of a memento, scroll of
honour and Rs 51,000 cash; and for Science Rs 1,01001 cash, a scroll of honour
and a memento.
Major
Ars was honoured with ‘Shourya Chakra’ in 2019 for bravery while fighting
against terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Milind Atre is the Deputy Director of
Academic, Research and Translation (ART), IIT, Mumbai and is an internationally
acclaimed scientist. His contribution includes developing an indigenous Cryogenic
System, and several research projects in the Space and Atomic Energy field.
