Bhubaneswar, 13 May (H.S.): A youth sustained critical injuries in a brutal sword attack by a group of miscreants near the Sishu Bhawan traffic square in Bhubaneswar late Monday night.

The victim has been identified as Biki Nayak. Nayak was riding his motorcycle when a car allegedly rammed into his two-wheeler from behind. Following the collision, approximately 10 individuals reportedly exited the vehicle and launched a violent assault on him.

As Nayak attempted to flee towards Forest Park Road, the assailants chased him and attacked him with a sword, inflicting grievous injuries.

Local residents alerted the authorities, and personnel from the Airport Police Station promptly arrived at the scene. The injured youth was initially rushed to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar. However, due to the severity of his condition, he was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced medical care.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Efforts are currently underway to identify and apprehend the attackers.
