Imphal, 13 May (HS): The operation conducted by the security forces in Manipur has achieved major success. Three KCP (PWG) outfit have been arrested and a large cache of arms and explosives were recovered from G. Khomunuam village (Churachandpur police station area) of Churachandpur district.

Police said on Tuesday that the recovered material includes a Pietro Beretta pistol (7.65 mm) with magazine, a nine mm pistol with a magazine, a country-made single barrel gun, three country-made hand grenades, two improvised pompies, two tear smoke shells, two smoke candles, two wood piercing cells and two cartridges (38 mm anti-riot).

Here, two KCP (PWG) cadres were arrested after raiding a rented house in Mantripukhri Mercylane in Imphal East district. The arrested persons have been identified as Ashaimbam Gopen Singh (43), resident of Andro Makha Leikai and Laishram Sanmacha Lema (45), resident of Sinam Manning Leikai, Imphal East.

In another operation, another active member of KCP (PWG) Narengbam Gobin Singh (38), resident of Wangjing Lamding Awang Leikai was arrested from Khongjom area (near Dhaka Brick Field, NH-102) of Thoubal district. One mobile phone and two SIM cards were seized from his possession. He is said to be involved in criminal activities like ransom extortion and kidnapping.

Security agencies are continuously carrying out intelligence-based 'combing operations and cordon and search operations' to prevent extortion-related crimes across the state.
