Bhubaneswar, 6 April (H.S.): A fire broke out early Sunday morning at the Union Bank branch located on Sarabahal Road in Jharsuguda district, Odisha, causing significant damage to important documents.
Residents noticed smoke emerging from the bank building and immediately alerted the Fire Services department. Firefighters responded quickly and managed to control the blaze before it could spread further.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire might have been caused by an electrical short circuit. It is believed that the air conditioner inside the bank was left running after business hours on Saturday, and the power supply was not switched off.
While the building itself did not suffer major structural damage, several office files and crucial documents were destroyed in the fire. Thankfully, no injuries or casualties were reported, as the bank was closed at the time of the incident.
Bank officials have begun assessing the extent of the damage, particularly the loss of important records. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
