New Delhi, 28 April (H.S.): Pakistan has continued to breach the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) for the fourth consecutive day due to escalating tensions. On the night of 27-28 April 2025, the Pakistan Army conducted unprovoked small arms fire targeting Indian posts in the Kupwara and Poonch districts. The Indian Army promptly responded to these attacks. Previously, on 26-27 April, similar unprovoked fire was reported from Tutmari Gali and Rampur Sectors, to which Indian troops reacted effectively.

These border tensions have heightened following a terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, which resulted in 26 fatalities. In the wake of the attack, security forces have intensified operations against suspected terrorists, demolishing homes of three individuals linked to the incident, raising the total to nine demolitions.

In response to rising hostilities, New Delhi has implemented various measures, including visa cancellations and the suspension of the 1960s Indus Water Treaty. Pakistan retaliated by suspending the 1972 Shimla Agreement and closing its airspace to Indian flights. Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called for a firm stance against terrorism but warned against actions that could alienate the local population, emphasizing the need to punish the guilty without harming innocent civilians. Abdullah underscored the local community's rejection of terrorism after the recent attacks.
