Will an Indian be the next Pope?

Thiruvananthapuram, 21 April(HS): With the passing away of Pope Francis on Monday, the process for the election of next Pope has begun in Vatican, though in a surreptitious manner. There is a strong possibility of an Indian occupying the top chair in the Catholic Church and the name of Kerala-born Baselios Cleemis has emerged as a likely candidate.

Cleemis is a Cardinal and is a member of the collegium that elects the Pope. With his vast experience in religious conversion and hatred for the Sanatana Dharma, Cleemis stands a chance to get the support from the powers that be in the Holy See in his efforts to become the global spiritual leader of the Catholics numbering 1.4 billion.

Moreover, India has a vast “unreached population” which the Church wants to bring to the route of Cross. Cleemis has already established his commanding position in the Church with his declaration in 2015 that Christians are not safe under the Narendra Modi administration.

Observers of the Catholic Church see similarities that existed in Poland and what is being seen in India now. Poland, a Communist country which has a majority of Catholic population could dismantle the Communist rule with the appointment of John Paul II as Pope in 1978.

Within months the Communist rule in Poland collapsed and the true followers of Roman Catholic Church took over the administration of the country. In India, a top Congress leader belonging to the Catholic Church is waiting in the wings to occupy the Prime Minister’s Chair with the active support of Vatican and international agencies that have an inherent hatred for Sanatana Dharma.

Cleemis fits the bill as a local man he can being in millions of people to the way of Christ. The next two weeks will say whether Cleemis would occupy the Holy See in Vatican.
